BOOK

Baby Bonding Scan:

A baby bonding scan, is a non-medical ultrasound examination performed during pregnancy to provide expectant parents with an opportunity to bond with their developing baby.

Typically performed from 10 weeks onwards, this scan offers a chance to view the baby's movements, facial expressions, and overall growth in real-time.

Although it is not intended to replace routine prenatal care or diagnostic scans, a baby bonding scan can provide parents with peace of mind and strengthen their emotional connection with the baby.

It is essential to note that the baby bonding scan is an elective procedure and should be performed by a trained ultrasound technician.

When is a baby bonding scan typically performed?

A baby bonding scan is typically performed from 10 weeks onwards. This time frame offers optimal visualization of the baby's features and movements, enhancing the bonding experience for expectant parents.

How is a baby bonding scan carried out?

A baby bonding scan is carried out using a specialized ultrasound device. The ultrasound technician applies a water-based gel on the mother's abdomen and moves a handheld probe, called a transducer, across the area.

The transducer emits high-frequency sound waves that penetrate the body, bounce back, and create images of the baby's features and movements on a screen.

What are the main objectives of a baby bonding scan?

The primary objectives of a baby bonding scan are to:

· Strengthen the emotional connection between expectant parents and their developing baby.

· Offer a chance to view the baby's movements, facial expressions, and overall growth in real-time.

· Provide peace of mind for parents regarding the baby's well-being.

Are there any risks or side effects associated with a baby bonding scan?

A baby bonding scan is considered safe and non-invasive for both the mother and the developing fetus. Ultrasound technology has been used in pregnancy for decades and poses minimal to no risks.
